I remember the first time I was on a bicycle speeding down the slope near my house; I was 6 and it was one of the happiest moments in my life. Unlike me and the little girl in the photo, there are kids who would never quite experience the kind of exhilaration that comes from being on a bike. That is what the folks at Whizz-Kidz are trying to change. By providing disabled children with customised mobility equipment, Whizz-Kidz is giving them more than a chance to speed down a slope; the kids are essentially being freed from the notion of helplessness. For most of us, independent mobility is taken for granted but for Whizz kids, it's a new beginning.
As part of my holistic internship programme, I'm going to raise funds for Whizz-Kidz. I love what the organisation is doing so I'm making Whizz-Kidz Odds&Ends' very first charity it supports. I would appreciate any amount in donation but folks who make £15 or more in donation (donations can be made online) would receive a limited edition thank-you photo from Odds&Ends. Remember to put Odds&Ends in the message when making a donation.
Also, if you happen to be in London this Saturday evening (July 14), I have tickets to Dave Stewart's concert at Tower of London originally priced at £60 each but, in support of Whizz-Kidz, are going for £10 each. An evening of great music while doing your bit for charity; all that for £10? Get in touch with me by Friday morning to book your tickets!
