1/2000s | f4.5 | 69mm | My brother, Jie Xin, on the Sentosa Luge.

For a week now I have been back home in Malaysia; the southernmost part (very near the island nation of Singapore) which I now call home. It also happens to be nearer to the equator than the rest of Malaysia. Fact: that makes it a notch hotter than the rest of the country.

People who have been living in cooler climate used to annoy me when they complain about the heat. I've taken to empathizing with them after a little trip to Sentosa island where I experienced full-blown tropics heat for the first time ever. Fact: the island being a few degrees to the south of where I'm staying now (and nearer to the equator) makes it that much hotter.

Seeing that the last time I was at Sentosa was when I was 8 or 9, my parents decided to bring me and my brothers there. The new attractions aren't that exciting, the beaches feel artificial and I almost died from the heat. Suffice to say, I remember the island to be more fun. Man-made beaches and global warming suck.
