1/2500s | f4.5 | cropped | The One O'Clock Gun at Edinburgh Castle. As its name suggests, the gun fires daily at exactly 1pm.

It was a pity that I missed the firing of the One O'Clock Gun, having arrived at the castle at 1.01pm. Now, that pisses me off to no end. I don't mind missing things by a long shot. Like how I didn't cry when I failed in my bid to become King Zhixin, ruler of Earth and Beyond. But missing things by a miniscule yet ultimately significant amount of intervening variable makes me feel like inflicting pain -serious pain- on someone, anyone. Even you.

My need for violence can be justified. Put yourself in my shoes. What would your course of action be if you were to miss getting an extra thousand quid in scholarship money for scoring a few marks short of an A in Economics? How would you react if your lucky draw ticket was 332 when the winning ticket to an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris so happened to be 333? What would you do if you were to miss the One O'clock Gun by a minute?

Oh well, missing the firing of the Gun is another reason to visit lovely Edinburgh again.
