Ka-ching!

November 09, 2005, Wednesday

Another one of those increasingly rare beautiful days in London. I was out taking photos despite having a trunkload of courseworks to complete. This here was shot near where this other photograph was taken. I love the shot and am glad I was sensible enough to have left slaving on courseworks for another day.

Last weekend, I missed out on the Guy Fawkes day fireworks display at Alexandra Palace and free food at the Malaysian Student Department Raya open house (and a chance to meet up with college mates from Malaysia). I'm glad I did; the AIESEC conference at Loughborough was a much more wholesome experience. I might not have been able to watch music-synchronised fireworks but I had the honour of learning from fellow AIESEC members who light up the room with such passion! I might not have feasted on rendang, but the roasts, smoked salmons and bacons weren't that bad either (and I chatted with so many people from universities all over the UK over meals!).

Best thing is, the conference was too much fun to be a conference; I danced like I'd never done before in my life (we danced at every possible moment over the course of the conference to keep ourselves energised), got a bit drunk at the parties (hmm, maybe that explains why I was even on the dance floor when I knew naught about dancing!), listened to the most amazing talks (they're more of a stand-up routine; one was an insightful and entertaining talk on sales by Peter Roper and the other, an inspiring speech peppered with liberal dosage of expletives by Marcus Orlovsky, who has got to be the most amazing person on the planet!) and had the most wonderful weekend ever! I'm glad.
