Missed the bus back to hostel due to own's impatience. Waited since 8:00pm and as the clock ticked away, the bus wasn't in sight. Gave the watch one last glance (8:16pm) and resigned to the fact that the bus might have come and gone earlier (It's known fact that the bus driver has a serious issue with following schedules). As I was walking up the unlit patch of road towards college, for reasons known only to God, I turned around and saw the distinctive yellow bus which, having been on it countless times, I recognized as the hostel bus. The moment would have been even more ironic had iPod chose to play Alanis Morissette's Ironic. Sensing my anguish, however, it called up instead one of those cheery Carpenters songs. So, here I am in college's computer lab, cursing myself as I put together what would be a letter for my future-self:
Dear Zhi Xin,
There's virtue in standing and waiting... and waiting... and waiting for the bus. If you're tired of standing, the pavement, though hardly comfortable, provides respite from aching legs. Take a seat and continue wating. Even though you don't quite believe in the bull about good things coming to those who wait, giving up is tantamount to admitting defeat. In your on-going battle against unreliable hostel buses, you need patience to outwit and outwait the bus driver. May the force be with you.
Signed,
Yourself at 8:50pm, Aug 3 2004

Managed to catch the last bus back. It's official, waiting is not my forte. At risk of sounding corny, life is too short to waste time on waiting for one thing or another. If you want something, act on it at once, why wait? Case in point: Had actually wanted to snap a shot of the beautiful sky at dusk yesterday but I took my own sweet time running up to my room to get Cammie. By the time I had Cammie slung around my neck, the sky had changed imperceptibly from beautiful blue tinged with orange to dull dark blue tinted with grey. I ended up with the photo above. It's a shot of the hostel against the sky with that interesting cloud formation. Notice that it's not that sharp; ISO100 was used instead of the necessary higher ISO. Am pretty please with the shot anyway, but would have been happier if I had gotten the shot of the sky just before the sun set.
