This site is a whole lot of things at once; it's a weblog (I scour the vast sea of cyberworld to bring you the very best of the web), it's also a photoblog (I post photos I deem good enough to please your eyes, mind and soul) and it's now turning imperceptibly into a quasi-MP3 blog (I've since put up two songs for downloads). Alternating multiple roles is to a certain extent detrimental; people don't seem to take this site seriously.
Odds&Ends logs an average 100 unique visitors every day. But how many of you have commented on any of the links and photos? Over at Kottke, visitors to the blog give their say on the external links posted. At Chromasia, David's photos are appreciated by those who frequent his photoblog. But nobody save a few of you has ever done so on Odds&Ends. I thank those who have bothered to leave a comment in the comment box; I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comments (I tend personally to every single comment). Those of you who have been here long enough but have yet to post a comment, please do. When you're at a friend's house, it's only polite that you announce your presence.
I'm aware that some of you are turned off by the fact that you need to include a valid email address to be able to post a comment. But it's necessary so that I could get back to you; I don't normally reply to comments via the comment box. Rest assured that your email address is in safe hands; I, myself, am on a relentless battle against spammers and my disgust for them is beyond mere words. And more importantly, I don't keep an address book that can be harvested by computer viruses and worms. So, the chances of you getting a mail laced with malicious codes from yours truly is zilch. Your email address won't be shown either in the comment box.
Speaking of multiple roles, I have plenty too. I'm a student (one who needs serious counselling for showing disdain for assignments and course work), an amateur photographer (photography is one of the few things I find pleasure in), a website designer (the joy of seeing the result of your endless nights loads impeccably on a browser is spiritually uplifting) and sometimes a columnist (the teen column I write in is sporadic of late).
With my A Level trial exam only a few weeks away, I have to put myself on Student mode 24/7. Not that I want to lead a boring life of studying-eating-sleeping-studying... (the cycle repeats), but this exam is one that I have got to ace in. My fate will be sealed by this one exam as the result will be used for my UCAS application.
Peter Parker had to do some juggling too; he was a student, pizza delivery man, photographer and oh-so-cool Spider-Man. Speaking of whom, here's the theme song (no longer available) from the old Spider-Man TV series.
Before leaving this blog, kindly leave your mark in the comment box below. You never know when I might reward those who log the most words in my comment box (wink, wink).
